After checking into Canada at Bedwell Harbor and moving on to Ganges, Salt Spring Island, a high pressure parked itself off the coast and generated some strong northwesterly winds in the Strait of Georgia. Rather than try to push north into those I hung out in Ganges and visited the Saturday Farmer's Market before heading off the next day. The "farmer's" market has only two farmers in attendance now. While browsing some veggies I overheard one of farmers say it has become very hard for them in the past few years. Not sure what they meant. Let's hope it changes. I bought from them.
Getting ready to depart on Sunday morning my back gave out on me. Apparently the daily workouts are not enough or I pushed it too far on Saturday with too much walking. I had no choice but to give up on moving anchorages.
I spent another week resting and focusing on my back. The wind continued to blow most days and I realized that Ganges is a fairly windy anchorage. I saw a number of boats coming and going so it couldn't have been as windy as the Canadian forecast indicated. Regardless, my back said no. Eventually another Sunday arrived with a decent light wind forecast and I decided to move on. Another run in the dinghy for a few groceries and it was off to Clam Bay for more rest. It definitely didn't help my back to carry stuff and I paid the price for it.

On the plus side I have made it to Clam Bay and found a nice quiet spot to hang out for a while. I have lot's of books to read (thanks Bob) and plenty of sunshine to charge the batteries. So, relax, enjoy nature, peace, and appreciate these moments where the world doesn't seem to be all that bad.
