After being without fresh vegetables and fruit for a week it was time to make the run across Queen Charlotte Strait to Port McNeil where they have a nice grocery store and get some fresh food. I tied up to G dock, plugged into power, pulled out the utility cart, and headed up to the store. Port McNeil is a very busy harbour but it's nice once in a while to be tied up to a dock and have hot water every day, full water tanks, unlimited power, and access to stores and restaurants.
While in Port MacNeil, I met up with a nice young couple that are headed down the coast and beyond. They are just tarting on a long Pacific cruise and it was great to hear about their plans. I'll be following their progress here on SeaPeople.
I also met up with my dock neighbors from Seattle who were in port at the same time. Had a nice dinner with them and their friend who flew in to join them for some exploring further north. Then if that wasn't enough socializing, I bumped into someone I knew from over 10 years ago who was also in the marina having stopped over on their way down from a trip to Alaska.
It's been raining probably 50% of the time I've been up here so I need to figure out where to head to next because I think I'll be sitting there for a while waiting for better weather. Hopefully my last 2 to 2.5 weeks in the Broughtons will have more sunshine because I'm going to have to start heading south pretty soon.
